Microsoft puts Windows 7 on a Phone
Microsoft proves that even with 9% of the mobile phone market, they still have computer tricks up their sleeve.
On Monday, Feb 15th, Microsoft launched their Prototype Windows 7 phone operating system.
It comes with features like “pinch zooming“, Xbox Live integration, and sub-pixel positioning.
They are introducing a new interface called “live tiles”, which are interactive icons or hubs that change depending what is happening within that application, ex. live updating photos from Facebook or MSN. The new interface also has a series of “hubs”, which bring together related content from the web, applications and services into a single view. The six hubs are people, pictures, games, marketplace, music and office. The first phones using the new operating system will be available later this year (in 8-9 months) from manufacturers including Samsung, LG, HTC and Sony Ericsson.
